The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has authorized a single Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine booster dose. The CDC recommends: 

• People 65 years of age and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of the Pfizer vaccine 
• People ages 50-64 with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of the Pfizer vaccine 
• People ages 18-49 with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of the Pfizer vaccine 
• People ages 18-49 who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine. 

These recommendations apply ONLY to those in the above categories who received the Pfizer vaccine for their first two doses AT LEAST six (6) months ago. Pfizer booster doses are NOT to be given to individuals who received Moderna or J&J/Janssen for their primary COVID-19 series.

Teller County Public Health & Environment also continues to provide 1st and 2nd doses of all three COVID-19 vaccine brands. 

It is important to note that there are several providers of COVID-19 vaccination in Teller County in addition to Teller County Public Health & Environment. These include Safeway, City Market, Peak Vista Community Health, and UCHealth/Pikes Peak Regional Hospital. Teller County residents are encouraged to check our website for additional vaccination opportunities at these partner locations as they become available. 

The Teller County Board of County Commissioners remains concerned about the ongoing physical, mental and economic health of our community. The Board recommends that all members of our community who want to be vaccinated get vaccinated as soon as possible. We continue to encourage all residents and businesses to take personal responsibility for helping to fight the spread of COVID-19 in Teller County by staying home when you are ill and avoiding large public gatherings.
