Elections -

The basic laws applicable to regular and special municipal elections are contained in Title 31, Article 10, Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.). Known as the “Colorado Municipal Election Code of 1965,” Article 10 was enacted in 1965 and has been subject to a number of amendments since. Regular elections for statutory cities are to be held on the first Tuesday in November in each odd-numbered year. Other codes may apply to statutory cities conducting coordinated elections (where the election is operated coordinated with a County operated election).

The City of Victor holds regular elections in all odd-numbered years, electing four City Council members, a Mayor and a combined City Clerk/Treasurer to overlapping terms.

Special elections may be held at times other than regular election dates. Special elections shall be conducted as nearly as practicable in the same manner as regular elections. Furthermore, special elections on certain matters, such as annexation or the issuance of bonds, may involve statutory requirements beyond those contained in the code that must be followed for that particular type of election. Special elections are to be held on any Tuesday designated by the governing body, except within the 90 days preceding a regular municipal election.
